Last Week to Vote for Duncan Train Station
14 February 2023

Duncan Vancouver Island British Columbia - There's not much time left to vote for the Duncan Train Station in the National Trust for Canada's Next Great Save competition, an opportunity to win $50,000 for the upgrading of the downtown landmark.

Currently in the lead, the folks at the Cowichan Historical Society are still hoping the public will continue voting for their project every day, right up to the very last day, which is 22 Feb 2023 at 11:00.

"We ask that people don't become complacent and continue to vote daily," said Shiela Kitson, vice-president of the Historical Society.

The winner of the competition and the $50,000 prize will be announced on 23 Feb 2023.

If successful in their attempt to win the grand prize, the Historical Society would use the funds for upgrades to the present heating and cooling systems, which would save on energy bills and cut the building's carbon footprint by 74 percent.

"The station is in need of some TLC, and this prize would definitely help. We hope this is just the start on the quarter of a million dollars needed to restore the station to its former glory," Kitson said.
