This photograph is clearly labeled "Driving the last spike of the White Pass and Yukon R.R. at Lake Bennett July 6 '99". This is confusing as the date given in the text indicates the last spike ceremony was held at Carcross on 29 Jul 1900. The centennial marking that occasion was held at Carcross on 29 Jul 2000. Perhaps, like the Canadian Pacific Railway, there were two last spike ceremonies at different locations, the official ceremony most likely being held at Carcross on 29 Jul 1900.
