A map of the railroad yards in Mound House, showing both the Virginia & Truckee and the Carson & Colorado tracks. The two lines were different gauges, which meant freight and passengers had to be transferred by hand from one line to the next because the cars couldn't cross over. This was before 1904, when the C&C was retracked to standard gauge from 3 foot narrow gauge - Date unknown Silver Short Line Collection.
