Free V&T Tickets All Gone
22 October 2008

Carson City Nevada - The free tickets allocated for city residents to ride the Virginia & Truckee Railroad are all gone, according to the Carson City Convention & Visitors Bureau.

The bureau had initially allocated 750 free tickets, which were gone in a few days.

On Monday, they made more available, and residents quickly claimed them as well.

A total of 1,500 people claimed free tickets, a program intended to allow residents to see a part of the recently completed section of the railroad.

Carson City voters are being asked this election to approve another US$10 million in sales tax to begin construction on the next phase of the project, which would bring it into Carson City.

People can still purchase tickets on the railroad, which cost US$8 for adults and US$4 for ages 5 to 12.

Trains run several times each day.
