Stadler Altenrhein AG is Building Panorama Vehicles for the Glacier Express

The Rhätische Bahn (RhB) and the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) have ordered a total of 24 new vehicles from Stadler Altenrhein.
 
 Link to website From the middle of 2006 onwards these panorama vehicles will make the trip between St. Moritz, Davos, and Zermatt an even more unforgettable experience.
 
Stadler Altenrhein was able to secure the order for the new panorama vehicles in the face of international competition.
 
The 24 vehicles ordered are four first-class panorama passenger carriages, four first-class panorama passenger carriages with a disabled compartment, twelve second-class panorama passenger carriages, and four service carriages with a bar area.
 
The complete order has a value of 47.3 million Swiss francs and will constitute a major contribution to Stadler Altenrhein's utilisation in 2004 and 2005.
 
With these new panorama carriages a total of four new scheduled trains, two in each direction, will be running on the glacier route between St. Moritz, Davos, and Zermatt from the middle of 2006 onwards.
 
The high degree of comfort of these smooth-running, air-conditioned panorama carriages with comfortable seats and the new Stadler bogies with suspension are only part of the pleasure of the trip.
 
The large windows which run right through to the curve of the ceiling offer passengers a unique panoramic view.
 
All passengers will also be able to enjoy a new version of "meals on wheels".
 
In addition to the meals which are freshly prepared in the restaurant carriage, each passenger will be served food and beverages directly at their seats.
 
The four first-class panorama passenger carriages also do full justice to the new law for disabled amenities.
 
The Stadler Rail Group, the Swiss system provider for customised rail vehicle construction, incorporates Stadler Altenrhein AG, Stadler Bussnang AG, and Stadler Pankow GmbH in Berlin.
 
The Group employs a workforce of approximately 900 around the world.
