After riding the turntable, located just behind that rock outcropping, DFB No. 1 moves forward for fuel and water. Following a top up the driver takes the locomotive for a short run up the mainline, possibly to ensure everything is in working order before backing down to the Realp station to couple to awaiting passenger cars. The two tracks on the right beneath the overhead crane are the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn's (MGB) mainline leading to the east portal of the Furka Base Tunnel just outside the photo to the right.
