Departing Gletsch the train begins its descent towards Oberwald. The train parallels the Furkastrasse coming out of Gletsch but then it enters the Helical Tunnel dropping down to exit here at the lower portal crossing over the Rhone River. The road on the left is the Furkastrasse which uses a series of switchbacks to gain or lose elevation here.
