This train is departing Westerntor bahnhof westbound for the Brocken as the three ladies watch behind the grade crossing barrier. What you can't hear, aside from the locomotive noise, is the crossing warning bell visible just above the concrete counter weights of the crossing arm as it dings away. A weak ding, produced by some archaic mechanically activated clapper, it sounds closer to a dull clink rather than a substantial round ringing bell. Regardless, sounds from the locomotive simply overpower the poor miserable little thing. Thomas the Tank Engine would feel sorry for such a bell.
