Berwyn is the first station west of Llangollen. It rests on the south side of the River Dee across from the Chain Bridge Hotel. The Chain Bridge, a pedestrian suspension bridge, may be seen jutting out over the river between the hotel and the front of the heritage DMUs. The Shropshire Union Canal lies immediatly behind the hotel hidden in the trees. The DMUs are crossing the Berwyn viaduct. The south end of the King Edward VII stone arch road bridge, which crosses the Dee here, is visible in the lower left corner of the photograph. Built in 1908 it is still in use by vehicular traffic today. The highway in the foreground is the A5.
