Our photo journey starts here at the station platform in Lauterbrunnen. Lauterbrunnen is connected to the rest of Switzerland by the Berner Overland Bahn (BOB), that's their blue and yellow metre gauge train on the left. Notice the size, it's slightly larger than the yellow and green Wengernalpbahn (WAB) train on the right. That's because the WAB train is 800 millimetre gauge. Whereas the BOB train runs on adhesion and rack sections the WAB is entirely rack system only. Both are electrically are powered at 1,500 volts.
