Jungfraubahnen Operation
Back to Normal

Lauterbrunnen Switzerland - The operation of the Wengernalpbahn, Jungfraubahn, and the Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen Mürren returned to normal at noon Thursday.

The tree, which caused the power failure for the Lauterbrunnen Valley between Zweilütschinen and Lauterbrunnen, has been cleared away.

Among others, the help of an Air Glacier helicopter was necessary because the tree fell over a 50 Kilo Volt line.

The difficult removal operation took around one and a half hours.

Thanks to the rapid restoration of power the Wengernalpbahn (WAB) resumed operating between Lauterbrunnen and Kleine Scheidegg at 11:39.

The WAB Grindelwald-Kleine Scheidegg route recommenced at 11:55.

The Jungfraubahn went into operation at 12:30 from Kleine Scheidegg to the Jungfraujoch.

Lauterbrunnen to Mürren (BLM) was back to normal around 11:31.

The Berner Oberland Bahn (BOB) line between Interlaken Ost, Grindelwald, and Lauterbrunnen was also back on track.

Replacement bus service between Lauterbrunnen and Zweilütschinen has stopped.
