Resting just outside the Ropley sheds British Railways (BR) 41312 is a 2-6-2T Prairie known as an Ivatt Class 2MT. It has just come back into service after its mandated 10 year inspection and overhaul. The privately owned 66 ton engine was built at Crewe in 1952. Toward the end of its service it worked the Swanage and Lymington branch lines until withdrawal in 1967. Its shy buddy on the adjoining track, the West Country Class 34007, Wadebridge, is also serviceable.
