South Devon, and Paignton, are known as "The English Riviera". The beach here at Goodrington Sands is very popular and draws large crowds during hot weather. Small shacks with brightly coloured doors line the top of the beach parallel to the railway line. The beach is split into two, South Sands and North Sands. North Sands (the promenade end) is very tidal with the sea reaching up to the sea wall. South Sands has a much bigger expanse of soft sand and the sea seldom covers over half the beach. The water slides of Splashdown Quaywest are just visible top left.
