Steam Enthusiast Falls in Front of Train While Taking Photos

Goodrington Sands Devon England United Kingdom - A holidaymaker fell onto the tracks at Goodrington Sands just as the steam locomotive he had been photographing was entering the railway station on Wednesday.

Malcolm Johnstone, from Worcestershire, was on holiday in South Devon when he fell onto the tracks from the platform at Goodrington Sands, just as steam locomotive number 7827 "Lydham Manor" was approaching.

Paramedics from Torquay attended and took the steam train enthusiast to Torbay Hospital with suspected neck injuries.

A spokesman from Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company said, "The passenger fell from the platform onto the track before the train had entered the station. Passengers alerted the driver and the train stopped with just the engine on the far end of the platform some 300 yards away. The passenger was taken to hospital and kept in overnight as a precautionary measure."
