It's early June and the snow still lies on the mountain peaks as the Pinzgauer Lokalbahn steam excursion passes Dorfstrasse and the highway number sign heading for Krimml. The railway follows the Salzach River Valley for most of its route diverging at the Krimmler River then stops at Krimml station. The Salzach River is 225 kilometres long and one of the most important rivers of the Austrian Alps.
