CP Rail police and the
RCMP are still looking into what led to a collision between a car and a West Coast Express communter
train Thursday afternoon.
The eastbound train slammed into the 1986 Oldsmobile after the car, driven by a
47-year-old woman, failed to stop at a private crossing at 272 Street in eastern Maple
Ridge.
The train struck the front end of the car, sending it spinning off into a ditch on the north side
of the tracks.
The driver was taken to Mission Memorial Hospital with what police described as "very minor"
injuries. No one on the train was injured.
Ed Greenberg, CP Rail spokesperson, said investigators were still waiting to speak with the driver of
the car and so far no charges have been laid.
"Part of the investigation will be to talk with the driver and review (the) situation with
her", Greenberg said.
The 272 Street train crossing is a private crossing with no traffic controls or flashing lights.
