Canadian Pacific Expects Farmers to Have Enough Rail Cars

Minot North Dakota - A Canadian Pacific Railway official is assuring North Dakota grain handlers that enough rail cars will be available to handle this year's harvest, at least through October.

James Clement, director of grain at the railroad's U.S. headquarters in Minneapolis, said the company is delivering cars to 135 elevators, including about 100 in North Dakota.

He said the railroad has dealt with a backlog of rail car orders and is "in a position now with our car supply that we can supply anyone with their
needs".

However, Clement said there could be delays in November, when wheat and barley are at the end of their shipping seasons and other crops such as sunflowers are coming onto the market.
