Saskatchewan Ponies Up $10 Million for New CP Intermodal Hub
Regina Saskatchewan - The province of Saskatchewan
recently announced it will provide $10 million for the Global Transportation Hub in Regina.
Proceeds will help the city of Regina provide sewer and water service for the facility.
The federal government, province, and city are partnering with Canadian Pacific and the rural municipality of Sherwood to develop the
hub, which calls for relocating the Class I's intermodal terminal from downtown Regina to a site west of the city, and building an
overpass and connecting road.
The Global Transportation Hub will provide Saskatchewan exporters with better transportation links to national, North American, and
global markets, the public and private partners believe.
In late 2007, the federal government committed up to $27 million for the project through the Asia-Pacific Gateway and
Corridor Initiative.
