Image on dust jacket.
I've just discovered a new book, well perhaps not entirely
new, as it has a publication date of 2004.
"From Telegrapher to Titan - The Life of William C. Van Horne" by Valerie Knowles.
My copy is a hardcover edition of 501 pages with just 15 photographs and 2 maps published by Dundurn Press Suite 200 - 8 Market Street
Toronto Ontario M5E 1M6 ISBN-10: 1550024884 ISBN-13: 978-1550024883 Dimensions: 23.6 x 15.2 x 3.5 cm.
Ordered from Amazon Canada the cost was $42.58 delivered to my mailbox.
William C. Van Horne was one of North America's most accomplished men.
Born in Illinois in 1843, he became a prominent railway figure in the United States before coming to Canada in 1881 to become general
manager of the fledgling Canadian Pacific Railway.
Van Horne pushed through construction of the CPR's transcontinental line and went on to become company president.
He also became one of Canada's foremost financiers and art collectors, capping his career by opening Cuba's interior with a
railway.
So sayeth the review at Amazon.
