The work of clearing 10 acres of land began in 1912 for the E&N Courtenay station.

Courtenay station lies at the northern end of the E&N line. It is a one and a half storey, wood-frame, structure with the station agent's living quarters above the office completed in 1914.

E&N's Courtenay station resembling contemporary CPR designs was designed by CPR Divisional Engineer R.A. Bainbridge. It was also designated a Canadian Heritage Railway Station in 1993.
